DESCRIPTION
In early 2024, the INF board of directors collaborated with nurses to overhaul the Nurse of the Year Award process. This includes an annual campaign to boost awareness and nominations through clearer criteria. Nominees must hold an active nursing license, demonstrate achievements within 12-18 months, address three specific criteria, provide a recommendation letter, and include a $50 donation to the Illinois Nurses Foundation. Qualifying criteria emphasize mentorship, educational or legislative contributions, positive impacts on well-being and organizational culture, and embodying healthcare values like inclusivity and integrity. These updates aim to recognize and celebrate outstanding contributions within the nursing community.
