SCHOLARSHIPS
Below are all of the available scholarships. Please carefully review each scholarship's application criteria before beginning the application process. You may apply for as many scholarships that you qualify for.
You will be required to provide proof of passing grades in all nursing courses to date with an official copy of current transcript, documented proof of enrollment or intent to enroll, written statement as detailed in scholarship-specific criteria and a passport size head shot photo for all scholarship applications.
Alma J. Labunski Memorial Nursing Scholarship
Alma J. Labunski Memorial Nursing Scholarship
Purpose:In honor of the historical District 18, this scholarship was developed to assist undergraduate and graduate student schools of nursing located in north suburban Chicagoland schools of nursing. The scholarship is dedicated to qualified students majoring in nursing who are currently enrolled and attending one of the accredited schools of nursing within Northern Cook and Lake County.
Background: Former District 18 was committed to the education and development of students in serving within the profession of nursing. This endowed scholarship is intended to provide opportunities with the Illinois Nurses Foundation to assist undergraduate and graduate nursing students who attend one of the following accredited schools of nursing within the above region:
College of Lake County
Harper Community College
Loyola University
North Park University
Northern Illinois University
Oakton Community College Schools of Nursing
Schools of nursing which have lost accreditation will be ineligible until accreditation is achieved and/or renewed. Scholarship will be awarded annually in the amount of $1000 to one undergraduate or one graduate nursing student.

Provide proof of enrollment in College of Lake County, Harper Community College, Loyola University, North Park University, Northern Illinois University, or Oakton Community College.
Undergraduate Applicant: Provide proof of full time enrollment.
Graduate Applicant: Provide proof of part time enrollment (6 credit hours/semester) in a MSN, DNP, or PhD program.
Provide proof of a GPA Minimum 3.0 on 4.0 scale.
Provide a short narrative that describes how you, as a nurse, will impact the nursing profession in general or patients under your care. (500 words)
Arthur L. Davis Scholarship
Arthur L. Davis Scholarship
The Arthur L. Davis Scholarship is provided to a nurse who intends to serve as faculty in Illinois.
Amount of Scholarship Award: $1000.00 This scholarship was made possible through generous donations from Arthur L. Davis Publishing Agency, Inc.
Requirements to Qualify for Scholarship

Provide proof of minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 GPA scale) at the time of the application.
Provide proof membership in a professional nursing organization.
Provide a letter of recommendation from one nursing faculty member which addresses that the applicant demonstrates recognition for modeling a pattern of excellence, evidences leadership in the profession of nursing and reflects skills of strong communications and interactions with colleagues, students and clients.
Attest that it is your intent to serve for a minimum of one year as a faculty member in an Illinois school/college of nursing.
Provide a short narrative that addresses the following points: Evidences leadership in the profession of nursing. Demonstrates recognition for modeling a pattern of excellence. Reflects skills of strong communications and interactions with colleagues, students, and clients. (500 words)
District 2 Scholarship
D2 Scholarship
The District 2 Scholarship is dedicated to nursing students enrolled at one of the followings programs of nursing:
University of St Francis
Joliet Junior College
College of DuPage
Elgin Community College
Scholarship amount to be $1000. One scholarship to be awarded to each program listed above.
Requirements to Qualify for Scholarship

Provide proof of enrollment in a nursing program in either the Baccalaureate or Associate of Arts degree program at one of the following schools: University of St Francis, Joliet Junior College, College of DuPage or Elgin Community College.
Provide a short narrative detailing why the scholarship would benefit you and how you will involve yourself in the ANA-Illinois in the future or detail the past involvement of a relative in INA. (250 words or less)
District 21 Scholarship
District 21 Scholarship
The District 21 Scholarship is dedicated to US veteran nursing students with military service within the past 10 years and/or nursing students employed at the University of Illinois, University of Chicago, City of Chicago or Stroger Hospital of Cook County. Scholarship amount to be $1000 and can be used to pay tuition, buy books and/or supplies related to the training.

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Next Generation Scholarship
Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Next Generation Scholarship
Purpose: The Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Next Generation Scholarship is dedicated to qualified students majoring in Nursing who are Black, Indigenous, Latinx & People of Color and/or LGBTQIA+ Students must complete the race/ethnicity question to qualify.
Background In 2008, the INF funded the Centennial Scholarship that provided scholarships for underrepresented individuals based on the 2007 Sullivan Report on Diversity. In 2020, the INF Board of Directors asked the ANA-Illinois Expert Panel on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to review the criteria and bring recommendations to the board for revising the scholarship. Those recommendations were adopted by the board in 2021. 2022 will be the first year to award the scholarship based on the new criteria.

Undergraduate Applicant: Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.85 (on a 4.0 GPA scale) at the time of the application.
Graduate Applicant: Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 GPA scale) at the time of the application. Completed 12SH of graduate level courses at the time of the application.
Letter of endorsement from a current Nursing program faculty member.
Provide a short narrative that describes how you, as a nurse, plan to affect policy at either the state or national level that impacts on Nursing or health care generally; or, how you believe you will impact the nursing profession in general. (250 words)
Illinois Society for Advanced Practice Nursing Scholarship
Illinois Society for Advanced Practice Nursing
This scholarship was approved by the 2017-2019 Board of Directors to establish a means to support nurses wishing to pursue an APRN degree and APRNs wishing to pursue additional education. Applicants must be an ISAPN member and reside in Illinois or be attending an Illinois college/school.

Rural Workforce Development Nurse Scholarship
Rural Workforce Development Nurse Scholarship
Purpose: This initiative aims to support workforce development efforts in rural areas by providing financial assistance to nursing students, thereby strengthening the healthcare system in these underserved regions. Applicants must live in a rural area as determined by HRSA and state an intention to work in a rural community.

Provide proof of enrollment in or be accepted for admission to a nursing program in Illinois that is approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
Applicant must reside in areas that HRSA defines as rural. Use the Rural Health Grants Eligibility Analyzer to verify eligibility.
Describe Your Motivation for Pursuing a Nursing Career in a Rural Area: Why have you chosen to pursue a nursing career, and what specifically motivates you to work in a rural healthcare setting? Discuss any personal experiences, challenges, or inspirations that have influenced your decision. (500 words)
Sonne Scholarship
Sonne Scholarship
The Sonne Scholarship Program was created through a generous bequest from the estate of Maybelle Sonne, a retired nurse, who directed that the funds be used to aid those entering a career in nursing. Members in good standing of the Student Nurse Association of Illinois (SNAI) are eligible for the Illinois Nurses Foundation (INF) Sonne Scholarship. These funds may be used to cover tuition, fees, or other costs encountered by a student enrolled in a state-approved nursing program which leads to eligibility to sit for licensure examination as a registered professional nurse. A committee of the Board of Directors of the Illinois Nurses Foundation will review the scholarship applications and recommend recipients to the full INF Board of Directors who will make the final selection. Depending on the funds available at the time of recipient selection, up to four scholarships of $500 to $1,500 will be awarded in the fall of each year. Scholarship recipients will receive a year's free membership to ANA-Illinois upon graduation.

Provide a letter on school letterhead proof of a minimal grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Provide a letter on school letterhead from your dean or advisor that, if full time, provide proof of registration in at least the second semester of the nursing program or, if part time student, proof of successful completion of at least 12 semester hours with at least 4 semester hours in nursing.
Provide a letter on school letterhead a statement attesting to student’s intent to enroll in at least 12 semester hours during the academic year. Proof of such enrollment is required before any funds are awarded to a scholarship recipient.
Provide proof of NSNA/SNAI membership.
Provide a brief essay answering the question: “How will membership in my state nurses association enhance my nursing career?”
Provide a statement of financial need (250 words). You will be required to be specific in outlining your proposed budget. Note what you will spend on tuition, books, transportation, child care, uniforms for clinical experience or other expenses related to completing your nursing program (for example, $650 for tuition, $140 for books, $250 for travel to school and clinical, or $800 for 8 weeks of full time child care). Provide proof of these estimated expenses whenever possible (for example, a copy of a page from the college handbook identifying tuition costs; a copy of your receipt for last semester’s books; an estimate of mileage driven each week during the semester (at current IRA allowable rates); or a copy of recent receipt for child care costs.
South Suburban Nursing Scholarship
South Suburban Nursing Scholarship
Purpose: In honor of the historical District 20 of the IL Nurses Association, this scholarship was developed to assist students attending nursing schools located in the South Suburban Chicagoland Schools of Nursing. This scholarship is dedicated to qualified students majoring in nursing who are currently enrolled and attending one of the accredited nursing schools within the south suburbs as outlined below.
Background: District 20 was committed to the education and development of students interested in careers in the profession of nursing. This endowed scholarship is intended to provide opportunities, with the Illinois Nurses Foundation, to assist undergraduate and graduate nursing students who attend one of the following accredited nursing schools:
South Suburban Community College
Moraine Valley Community College
Prairie State Community College
St. Xavier University
Trinity Christian College
Governor’s State University
Chamberlain School of Nursing – Tinley Park Campus
Schools listed which have lost accreditation would not be an eligible school until accreditation achieved. Scholarship will be awarded annually in the amount of $1000 to one undergraduate or one graduate nursing student.

Undergraduate Applicant: Provide proof of full time enrollment and proof of membership in the school’s nursing club, organization, or State or National Nurses Association.
Graduate Applicant: Provide proof of part time enrollment (6 credit hours/semester) in a MSN, DNP, or PhD program and proof of membership in ANA-Illinois.
Provide a letter of endorsement from a current nursing program faculty member.
Provide a short narrative that describes how you, as a nurse, will impact the nursing profession in general or patients under your care. (500 words)
Wendy Burgess Memorial (District 19) Scholarship
Wendy Burgess Memorial (District 19) Scholarship
Purpose: This scholarship is dedicated to qualified students majoring in Nursing who reside in or attend nursing schools within the historical boundaries of the INA District 19 (West Cook and DuPage Counties).
Background: Illinois Nurses Association District 19 was committed to the education and development of students interested in careers in the profession of Nursing. To that end, the District endowed a scholarship with the Illinois Nurses Foundation to assist nursing students who reside in or attend nursing schools within the historical boundaries of INA District 19.
